Am I able to reserve a self storage unit now and move in later?
Yes, you can reserve your unit now and move in when you are ready. On the home page go to SEE PRICES, find the size you need and click 'Book Now'. Then add your details and select your move in date. Then when your move in date arrives, come to site and start using your self storage unit. Or click here.

Can I book a self storage unit in advance?
Yes you can. You can choose your move in for a date in the future. At Big Bull Self Storage you only pay when you move in, so you can book in advance and tick that off your 'to-do' list. With no deposits and no payments taken at the point of reservation, you can change your reservation before you move in.

How do I book my self storage?
It is very easy, similar to booking a train ticket online but easier. From the home page, click SEE PRICES, choose your unit size, click 'Book Now', enter your name, details, move in date, insurance level, tick the terms and conditions. On the next page enter your card details and confirm booking. You will receive an email with your booking details. Click here to go straight to the correct page.

How do I know whether the ground floor or the second tier is best for me?
If you're wondering how easy are the stairs to use, we can help you decide which is the most suitable option for your individual requirements. The upper level is a cost effective way to store your items and the upper level is much cheaper than the ground floor. How do I access my items if I go for an upper level unit?
We are this first and only self storage site in the UK to operate remote control stairs for the upper tier, second floor storage units. You won't need to bring your muscles, you can use a remote control to move them in to place. You move the stairs in to position, then put the four stability legs down so you can walk up freely. There are staff on site to show you how to use the stairs and if you forget, then we can help you as we have staff on site 5 days a week ready to help.

What size storage units are available?
We have 8 different sizing options on the ground floor drive up storage units - 160 sqft, 135 sqft, 120sqft, 80 sqft, 60sqft, 40 sqft, 25 sqft, and currently have 5 different sizing options for units on the upper level. You can click here to see the sizes we have.

How do I know what size storage unit I'll need?

How do I find Big Bull Self Storage? Directions from Burnham on Sea, Highbridge and the Motorway.
We are easy to find as we are close to the motorway junction 22 of the M5, between Bridgwater and Weston Super Mare in Somerset.
- From Burnham on Sea

If you're coming from Burnham on Sea via Edithmead, then turn right at the Motorway round about, towards Highbridge, on to Bristol Road (A38), take the second left at the next round about on to Bennett Road, Isleport Business Park. Drive past Aldi and Costa on your left, and you'll find us on the right hand side, on the corner of Bolton Road, next to the burger van, you'll see our bright yellow signage and the Big Bull Self Storage Logo from the road. - From Highbridge via Burnham Road
If you're coming from Highbridge, or Burnham on Sea via the Burnham Road, then drive towards the Asda round about (Asda will be in front of you), turn left here, go over the bridge, past Highbridge caravans. Come to the round about and take the this exit to go past Aldi and Costa on your left, and you'll find us on the right hand side, on the corner of Bolton Road, next to the burger van, you'll see our bright yellow signage and the Big Bull Self Storage Logo from the road. - From the Motorway
If you're coming from the motorway, take the exit for Junction 22, signposted Weston-Super-Mare, Burnham on Sea, Bristol (South) Airport. Take the first exit on to Bristol Road (A38). Take the second left at the next round about on to Bennett Road, Isleport Business Park. Drive past Aldi and Costa on your left, and you'll find us on the right hand side, on the corner of Bolton Road, next to the burger van, you'll see our bright yellow signage and the Big Bull Self Storage Logo from the road. How will I know my unit number and PIN code for access?
We will send you and email with all the information you need to know once we receive your reservation. You will receive another email the day before your booking, with your PIN code for the gate, your allocated unit number and the combination code for your self storage unit. So even if we aren't here, you will have everything you need to move in, meaning you can move in to your storage unit in the evening or weekend if that suits you as you will have 24 hour access with your PIN code.

When does my card payment get taken?
On the day you move in. This means you can book the unit now but only pay when you move in. So you will not pay a penny until your scheduled start date.

If I cancel my booking before my move in date will I still be charged?
No. Your card payment is only taken on the move in day so the payment was not taken anyway. So you can cancel before the move in date and there is no charge. We just ask for 24 hours notice before your move in date so we can ensure the payment doesn't go through.

How often is the rent paid and when?
The rent is paid monthly. The first month's rent is paid on the move in date and then on the same date each month until you tell us you are moving out. Another one of the benefits of being with us, you'll never forget your payment date. We ask for 3 days notice of a move out, so we can ensure the next payment doesn't come out. How much will it cost today? Do I need to pay a deposit?
No. We don't charge anything to reserve the storage unit, there are no cancellation charges and no deposits, so completely free to reserve a self storage unit as you wont pay anything until your move in date.

What is the minimum period to rent a self storage unit with Big Bull?
One month. You can stay less, but the minimum sum payable for any subscription is one month. All payments are monthly on the day you move in, and then on the same date of every month going forward.

What notice do I need to give to leave the unit and cancel my subscription?
No notice period is required for a move out as you pay your rent for a forward month, so you are paid up for the whole month. If you are leaving at the end of a month, we just ask for 3 days notice before the next payment comes out, so we can ensure you don't get charged for the next month.

If I move out half way through the month's rent period will I get a refund for the days left for the month?
No. Refunds are not paid for the days left in your paid up month after you have left. We do not insist on deposits or notice periods so overall this is reasonable.

Do you take other forms of payment apart from card?
No. Card is the only form of payment we accept. The payment is secure and managing your subscription is easier and everything is done online. You can change the bank card used at any time, either by signing in to your online account or by calling us and we will change it for you.

What can I store?
You can store more or less anything in a self storage unit. However there are some exceptions which are stipulated by the Self Storage Association.

Can I park my car here?
Yes. We also offer secure car parking on site. So if you need to park your car or van, or even a trailer, then we can book you in. If you are a Sales Rep or are self employed and need the space for your car during the day, and your work van over night, the we can offer long term spaces. Or if you need seasonal storage or a short term parking space while having your driveway refurbished then just ask us about our availability. Do you collect or arrange removals for me?
Yes. We work with a great removal company who we are happy to recommend and arrange quotations for you. As we know and trust them, we can allow them access to your self storage unit with your say so. They have also done their stairs induction, so if you reserve an upper unit, then they can move you in easily. Yet another convenient way that we can help you. This means that you don't even need to be here when they're unloading and loading your items, which can save you time. They can then pull right up outside your unit, for easy unloading. Don't worry about the size of their vehicle, as we have extra wide lanes suitable for even the biggest of removal vans to unload the contents of your home. Let us know, and we can arrange this for you.

What are the opening hours? How often can I access the site?
We are proud to say we are a 24 hour site. We are open 24hrs a day, 7 days per week, 365 days a year, so you can come and access your self storage container with your PIN code for the gate at any time day or night. We are fully illuminated for full visibility across the whole site for anyone wishing to use their self storage unit in the night, which is just one of the benefits of storage with us. Are there staff on site to help me?
Staff are usually on site 5 days a week, if you would like to have a look around before reserving a unit then do come over and see us. We are also here to help you if need help with booking or moving in. But since it's so easy to book online, with a step by step guide emailed to you after booking, you should be able to move in with no assistance at all, however we are here if you do need us.

Can I swap unit sizes if I change my mind or my circumstances change?
Yes, you can swap to a bigger or smaller unit when ever you need to, even mid way through your subscription. We can move your unit sizes over as your storage requirements change. Just call us and we can see what sizes we have available.

Do I need insurance?
Yes you need insurance. We offer a competitive insurance cover via our self storage underwriters called Reason Global. It is mandatory and is in place by the trade body the Self Storage Association. See our insurance by clicking here. 

Can I take my own insurance?
Yes you can, however we will need to see the policy terms which allow you to keep your belongings in a self storage facility, rather than in your home.

How do I calculate the insurance level I need?
You need to check what it would cost to replace your items. This is usually more than they are worth, but this is the value you should cover them for. The booking form will show you the various price and cover options available for the size of your chosen unit.

Why do I need insurance? Can I just not have any insurance? 
It is mandatory to have insurance since if there is a loss claim and you do not have insurance it is possible for the self storage company to be held liable. Self Storage operators are advised to ensure insurance is in place by the trade body the Self Storage Association. 

Is the facility and all self storage units inside secure?
Yes the site is very secure. The site has monitored CCTV across the whole site 24-7-365. There is a high perimeter, anti climb fence and a strong automated gate. Each one of the self storage units have a strong padlock that sits inside a tamper proof lock box. We issue these free of charge to ensure the safest stay. How do I access the site?
We have four options to access the site 24 hours a day.
1. number plate recognition 
2. QR code phone access 
3. PIN code access.
4. Call us 01278 618440 (number is also on the gate) and we can remote access the gate to open.

Can large vehicles access and turn onsite?
Yes there is lots of space on site and wide roadways between the self storage container units to allow for passing. A one way system means you can navigate the whole site safely and come in and out easily. The gate is extremely wide to allow large vehicles easy access. What is the difference between using an indoor self storage facility (inside a warehouse) to an outdoor facility with drive-up containers units such as Big Bull Self Storage?
This is simply personal preference, however the outdoor facilities are popular since you can park your vehicle next to the door of your unit which is easy for unloading and loading. This is particularly useful if you have larger pieces and heavier items, or a lot to move in and out at a time, for example when moving house. Our self employed clients find this particularly helpful when using them to store tools and materials. The upper level of storage is popular with people looking for a half price storage option as the upper tier is the cheapest storage in Burnham and Highbridge. External storage is usually cheaper than internal storage facilities.

How do I know my items wont get damp in your container units?
These former shipping containers have been modified for self storage purposes by adding 14 extra air vents, brand new rubber seals, installing wipeable floors and an easy open long handle. The original structure of the container is excellent protection against all weather as they were designed for the open seas carrying sensitive items such as electronics and fabrics so they are completely water tight. The units are also placed on raised foundations, to ensure the air flow and prevent condensation. We just ask that you ensure your goods are free from any form of moisture prior to going in to your self storage unit. 

What should I consider before putting my items in to storage, are there things I need to check before I put my belongings into a unit?
Yes make sure any soft items such as fabrics or items that has fabric on is dry when you put them in the self storage unit. If they are damp or wet when you store them, then there is a chance condensation could build up. The extra ventilation in our units will give you some protection against this but it is best to check your things are not carrying water or damp.

Do I need my own padlock when using storage units?
No. We provide you with our own extra strength padlocks. You must use this padlock and not your own, as these fit up inside the secure lock box, meaning they can't be tampered with. We ask that you only use our padlocks for insurance purposes and refrain from putting additional locks on the units. Our padlocks are free to use, we just ask that you return the padlock and key at the end of the term. Click here to see how to use our padlocks.

What is the easiest way to reserve a storage unit?
You can reserve a unit online, through the 'See Prices' button. Click on that, choose your size, enter your details, choose a date (don't worry as you can change this later) and we will Email you confirmation of your booking with a unit number and your PIN code etc.
